Back to Live Performances Reviews Journal of The American Liszt Society (Performance Reviews) Michael Habermann played a recital of piano music by Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji at 2:00 p.m. Habermann's staggering technique and interpretation made this incredibly difficult music seem easy. In 1940 Sorabji imposed a ban on performing his music, but fortunately this ban has recently been rescinded and Michael Habermann is the first pianist to be given the privilege of playing Sorabji's music. It takes a very special pianist for Sorabji and fortunately for us all, Habermann is that kind of pianist. The performance left the audience breathless, but the pianist seemed as though he could have gone on for two more hours! |
